Memorial Day Weekend Grilling Recipe; Korean BBQ

Korean BBQ is one of the most popular ways of grilling meat, typically marinated beef, pork or chicken.  On this Memorial Day weekend, add some flare to your grilling with different types of Korean BBQ recipes.

Bulgogi

Bulgogi (Beef Korean BBQ) is made from thin slices of sirloin or other prime cuts of beef

Ingredients;

  • 2 pounds sliced beef (sirloin or other prime cuts of beef)
  • 2-3 scallions
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot

 

Marinade;

  • 6 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoon water
  • 4 tablespoon sugar or cooking syrup
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine or mirim
  • 2 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 4 tablespoons grated Korean pear
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

or

Korean BBQ Original Sauce Bulgogi Marinade

 

How to cook;

  1. Prepare Bulgogi meat (beef);

-Wrap steak in plastic wrap and place in the freezer for about 30 minutes.

-Remove the wrap. Slice the meat across the grain into 1-2mm thickness.

  1. Prepare vegetable: Cut scallions, onion, and carrot into 2-3 inch long
  1. Make Bulgogi marinade: Place the marinade ingredients into a bowl then mix well or just use Korean BBQ Original Sauce Bulgogi Marinade.
  2. Marinate 2 lbs sliced meat and vegetables with the prepared marinade sauce or 0.45 lbs Korean BBQ Sauce Bulgogi Marinade for at least 1 hour.

.   6. Grill or stir-fry both sides by flipping continuously to avoid burning

 

 

 

 Kalbi 

Kalbi (Beef Short rip Korean BBQ) is made from Korean-style short rib beef which is much thinner than English version ribs.

Ingredients;

2-3 pounds short rib beef

Marinade;

  • 6 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cooking syrup
  • 2 tablespoons mirim
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • ½ Korean pear grated
  • ½ onion grated
  • 2 sliced scallions
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

 Or just use Korean BBQ Original Sauce Kalbi marinade

 

How to cook;

  1. Place all marinade ingredients in a bowl then mix well.
  2. Marinate 3 pounds of short rib beef with the prepared marinade or with Korean BBQ Original Sauce Kalbi marinade for at least 1 hour or longer. Thicker the meat, you may marinate longer time.

.    3. Grill the short ribs for 2-3 minutes on each side. Try not to flip too often.

 

 

Jeyuk Bokkeum (Pork Korean BBQ)

 

Ingredients;

  • 2 pounds sliced pork
  • 1 onion
  • 3 scallions

 

Marinade;

6 tablespoons red chili pepper paste

1 tablespoon red chili pepper flakes

3 tablespoons soy sauce

3 tablespoons mirim

2 tablespoon cooking syrup

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon grated ginger

1/2 apple grated

Or  just use 

Chicken and Pork Marinade Korean BBQ Original Sauce (Hot & Spicy Flavor)

How to cook; 

  1. Prepare thinly sliced port meat
  2. Cut vegetables (onions and scallions0 into 2-3 inch long
  3. Place all marinade ingredients in a bowl and mix well or prepare 0.5 lbs of Chicken and Pork Marinade Korean BBQ Original Sauce (Hot & Spicy Flavor)
  1. Marinate prepared meat with the marinade altogether with prepared vegetables for at least an hour.

  1. Grill or stir-fry both sides by flipping continuously to avoid burning.
